Bio

Derek is a conservatory-trained, versatile actor, improviser, and voice actor. Derek has appeared on stage in America and abroad, as well as on screen, on the radio, in video games, and on the web.

Derek holds a B.A. in Drama and Philosophy from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. While at UW, Derek performed with UW’s best (and only) improv troupe, The Collective, after graduating, Derek performed with a number of theaters in the Seattle area before moving to Cambridge, MA to earn his MFA in Acting from the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University.

Derek now lives in Los Angeles, where he studied and performs at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater. You can see him performing with his Mess Hall team, Yacht Club

In improv and scripted comedy, Derek shines with his fierce intelligence and quirky sense of humor. His smooth, engaging, intelligent delivery is well suited to voiceover work of all types, including audiobooks, video games, and informational presentations. He is adept at using his skills in character acting and dialects to embody a wide variety of characters.

Tall, dark, and maybe a bit awkward, Derek is an avid reader and a nerd through and through. He can frequently be found playing obscure European board games and role playing games most people have never heard of.
